Measure before ordering. Portable curtains work best when the fabric overlaps the bright edge of the glass rather than ending exactly at the visible opening.
1. Measure the area to cover
Measure the width and height of the glass, then check how much flat surrounding glass or frame is available for overlap. Record measurements in centimetres.
2. Allow for edge overlap
Where the window allows, choose a curtain wider and taller than the visible glass. Extra overlap helps reduce light entering around the sides. Exact coverage depends on the frame, handles and fixing position.
3. Choose a size
- Compact — 100 × 100 cm: small windows or partial coverage
- Standard — 129 × 198 cm: many bedroom and travel-window applications
- Extra Wide — 145 × 300 cm: wider windows or larger coverage areas
4. Check the fixing surface
Suction cups adhere best to clean, dry, smooth and non-porous glass. Textured glass, condensation, grease, dust and uneven surfaces can reduce adhesion.
5. Check obstructions
Allow for window handles, vents, safety latches and emergency-opening requirements. Do not install the curtain where it blocks ventilation, an emergency exit or a safety mechanism.
